Spot Cleaning on Wedding Dress: Should You Use Dry Cleaning or Wet Cleaning?

Wet Cleaning a Wedding Dress:

The best way to clean an entire wedding dress is by using a water-soluble whitening formula powder. Soak the dress in a warm bath with the appropriate amount of this chemical powder. It dissolves water-soluble stains and whitens the fabric, giving the dress a refreshed look. Most wedding dress fabrics, except for silk and wool, can only be wet cleaned and cannot endure dry cleaning.

Unlike regular laundry shops that use water-soluble spray guns or commercial washing powders, our method includes a whitening formula without bleaching agents, ensuring no damage to the dress.

Dry Cleaning Wedding Dress:

Dry cleaning wedding dress does not provide a whitening function. It effectively removes oil-soluble stains but cannot eliminate yellowing, greyish, or blackened areas. Dry cleaning agents are expensive and heavily used in this process, making it about three times costlier than wet cleaning. However, for silk and wool fabrics that are prone to damage when wet, dry cleaning is the only option.

Most brides opt for wet cleaning as it is more affordable and suitable for relatively clean dresses. For seriously stained dresses, spot cleaning and stain removal treatments are required. Dry cleaning, though more expensive and lacking whitening effects, is necessary for oily stains.
